Miley Cyrus Gets Boozy, Stoned, and Sexy in 'LOL'

Teen queen Miley Cyrus, who has made a fortune with her Disney show Hannah Montana and countless tie-ins, including a 3D movie of a Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus concert tour, is going to show us she's not just another pop star from the Mouse House. After her turn in the soggy Nicholas Sparks movie The Last Song, she's since gone on to release a "racy" music video for her single "Can't Be Tamed," which features a woman with a bird cage on her head as a hat and Cyrus as a winged sexpot being held in a cage who breaks out and wreaks havoc in a museum.

Her next stop on the "Screw You, I'm a Grown-Up!" tour is the movie LOL (Laughing Out Loud), which is based on a French movie of the same name. Both movies were directed by Lisa Azuelos, who wrote the screenplay for the French version and co-wrote the screenplay for this adaptation. I haven't seen the original, so I don't know if it's any good. Have you?

HollywoodLife.com has apparently seen a copy of the script (and PopEater has a snap from the movie), and it reads a bit like Thirteen mixed with Showgirls. In the film, Cyrus "loses her virginity, talks about sex incessantly, smokes marijuana, kisses one of her two best female friends on the lips, gets wasted and accidentally shows her mom, Ann, (Demi Moore) her Brazilian wax."

Meanwhile, Moore is saddled with lines like, "You're my daughter... And I won't let you turn into a porn star!"

Some are comparing this stab at a bad girl makeover to Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and other Disney gals who went to their dark sides, but none of those gals had daddies like Billy Ray to make sure their achy-breaky hearts didn't stray too far from the fold. Is this all a family-approved move at making sure Cyrus stays relevant as she ages out of the Disney market? Is Cyrus talented enough to escape the long shadow of Hannah Montana?

Let's not forget that despite the unending legal and personal troubles, Lohan is actually a pretty good actress, and instead of reveling in the tabloid frenzy, some are actually hoping she'll eventually make a Robert Downey Jr.-like comeback. Does Cyrus have the chops to begin with -- or material that will give her the opportunity to show 'em off?

CHRISTINA HENDRICKS FRONTS A SEXY NEW AD CAMPAIGN FOR LONDON FOG!

And to prove it, the Mad Men star is fronting the London Fog fall 2010 ad campaign!
“London Fog is a classic brand, which I love. It also ties into Mad Men, we used London Fog in the show and this was a nice way to tie everything together,” the Emmy-nominated actress says of the outerwear label.

“The trench is such an iconic shape for men and women. It works for anyone — it worked in the 1960s and it works now.”

“Christina has a modern appeal but also harks back to a bygone era,” adds the brand’s chief marketing officer, Dari Marder.

Shot by Nino Muñoz, the elegant black-and-white ads feature Hendricks posing seductively in London Fog coats and accessories, and are set to debut in October fashion and lifestyle magazines as well as outdoor and online.

Hendricks recently revealed her favorite thing about starring in Mad Men.

“I adore the incredibly tight clothing,” the actress, who plays Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce office manager Joan Harris in the hit show, told Britain’s GQ magazine.

“My own wardrobe’s changed — I’ve streamlined a little bit and definitely learned from Joan’s sleekness and tailoring.”

“Joan’s a dream to play — she’s not always prancing around the office. There’s that side to it, which is really fun, but there’s nitty-gritty,” she added.

“She’s what makes the workplace so fun — in a workplace that can be so dark and so much tension, Joan gives some levity.

“And the wonderful thing is she still has these darker moments among the fabulous highs.

“I just keep praying for Joan to get her power back. To resolve her problems and rise to the top. To fight back!”

Sexy clothes sell for ovulating women

Without realizing it, ovulating women buy sexier clothes. That was the conclusion of new research from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. And, the analysis concludes, the ovulating subjects weren't trying to attract men; rather, they were trying to look better than the women around them.

Women at peak fertility unconsciously choose clothes and other items that enhance their appearance, according to Kristina Durante, a post-doctoral fellow at the Carlson School and co-author of the study. "If you look more desirable than your competition, you are more likely to stand out," the school quoted her as saying.

She added: "In order to entice a desirable mate, a woman needs to assess the attractiveness of other women in her local environment to determine how eye-catching she needs to be to snare a good man."

The study's researchers showed ovulating women photographs of attractive local women and asked them to choose clothing and accessory items to purchase.

Most of the women chose sexier products than those who had been shown photographs of unattractive local women or women who lived more than 1,000 miles away. Women who weren't ovulating didn't respond in kind.

According to Durante, the research has practical implications for marketers because ovulation may profoundly influence women's consumer behavior. In addition to clothing, the products included shoes, fashion accessories, cosmetics, health supplements, fitness products and medical procedures.

The research will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Journal of Consumer Research.

Magazines to Starlets: We Want You Naked

This month, Lindsay Lohan bared her body for Maxim magazine, Lady Gaga was naked on the cover of Vanity Fair, and Katy Perry went topless in Rolling Stone. They’re all young, attractive Hollywood pop princesses – so what’s the difference? Maxim is a men’s magazine in which flesh-flashing is the norm, while Vanity Fair, a high-end, fashion/politics publication, and Rolling Stone, the country's venerable rock music and pop culture chronicler, are not.

So has the decaying world of magazine publishing reached a point where all magazines are emulating Maxim and Playboy with sexy young women exposing themselves in order to attract consumers’ attention? Total combined subscription and single copy U.S. magazine sales in 2009 were down 6 percent from 2008, and at their lowest level since 1985, according to Magazine Publishers Association figures.

U.S. magazine sales at newsstands and other retail outlets also slipped in the first half of 2010, falling 5.6 percent to roughly 32.5 million in the January-June period.
“Magazines, struggling to stay afloat, do need to titillate a bit more than they normally have. They are desperate," media blog Adrants.com editor Steve Hall told Pop Tarts. “Sex sells. It always has. Whether or not it can save magazines though is unclear.”

The flesh fest doesn't stop ant Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. Kim Kardashian graced the cover of high-fashion magazine Harper’s Bazaar sans her clothes this summer, and newcomers Emmanuelle Chriqui, Colbie Caillat, and Kara DioGuardi bared all for beauty publication Allure's "nude issue."

“With the dwindling advertising dollars, the A-list Madison Ave magazines are looking to lure a younger 18-25 demographic, so it’s no surprise they use scantily clad ... stars,” said Hollywood image consultant Michael Sands. “The Internet is capturing the eyeballs of most people, so glossy magazines are just trying to survive in the marketplace.”

But perhaps it isn't the mainstream magazines' fault. If the young ladies want to be recognized for their artistic contributions long-term, might it be time they took responsibility and started saying no?

"You can blame the magazines for pushing these twenty something year old pop stars to bare their ‘T & A,’ or you can ask Katy Perry ... why she doesn't think she has anything else to offer viewers but her body?" said Associated Press pop culture reporter Natalie Rotman. “Magazines have always been pushing women to demean themselves because sex sells. Where are the women who know they are more than that, that their voice and talent are enough?”

But according to Hall, the likes of Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone can opt for the “sex sells” cover all they want, but eventually its what’s inside, and the state of the print industry, that will determine who wins and loses.

“Nudity is a temporary solution, without actual journalistic substance, it is all just window dressing,” he said. “Magazines are not dying. What’s dying is the form through which their content is delivered: ink printed on paper. While there is no reason these companies can’t adapt, many will fail because they will attempt to hang on to the old model longer than those who, more smartly, make the shift to digital.”

Sexy swimwear and glamour gowns: Brisbane Fashion Festival off to a stylish start

A big, white tent erected on a patch of grass by the river hardly sounds glamorous.
But throw in scores of leggy models, fashion designers and a full orchestra of champagne flutes and the whole notion takes on a new sparkle.
The Brisbane Fashion Festival kicked off at the weekend, drawing a cacophony of hot labels and beautiful people to its deceptively sophisticated marquee on the Cultural Forecourt, South Bank.
Running until August 13, the festival encompasses a series of nightly group shows, free day parades and lectures and is perfectly timed to coincide with the Gallery of Modern Art's landmark Valentino Retrospective: Past, Present, Future.
Already off to a flying start, the festival enters its third day today with collections from a number of fresh designers and retailers set to power down the runway.
The onus is on the organisers to sustain the full-steam momentum from the opening weekend thanks to a couple of knock-out parades and high-profile guests.
Governor-General Quentin Bryce was present at last night's first group show, seated after a standing reception at the foot of the runway next to festival director Lindsay Bennett and Premier Anna Bligh.
A known fashion identity, Ms Bryce was a poised picture of pink and enjoyed new season looks from the likes of local designers Tengdhal and Pia Du Pradal – the latter counts Ms Bligh among her devoted clients.
Earlier that day, the unseasonably warm weather did little to aid the constitutions of patrons at sunny Brisbane's parade de rigueur, the ever-popular swimwear show.
Featuring a range of young labels, it was disappointing to see a few notable brands from festivals past were not present and male models totally absent, though Karen Nielsen's retro collection did hit a high note.
However, it was no match for Saturday night's grand opening parades.
Laden with local and national talent, each of the three group shows bragged a name worth watching and a high-profile press pack to match.
Menswear favourites Pistols at Dawn did not disappoint - their trademark take on masculine elegance a robust example of classic tailoring done fresh.
It was heartening to see more than a few of their immaculately suited clients turned out in support.
Equally exciting is the anticipation mounting around retail newcomer Richards & Richards, a two-level luxury menswear destination due to open shortly next to the new Hermès boutique on Edward Street in the CBD.
Showing a range of international labels such as Luigi Borrelli and Pal Zileri in their Saturday night parade, the new shop looks to be a boon for local men of discerning tastes (with wallets and lifestyle to match).
Of course, the fashion festival remains a largely female domain – a fact the program reflects.
Stand-outs so far include the marvellous fabrics and romance of Paul Hunt; George Wu and Akira for their remarkable vision and structure, Easton Pearson's signature verve and Lisa Ho's very clever neutrals.

Step into my office: Myleene Klass rocks the sexy secretary look

Ladies may want to take down some shorthand notes on how Myleene Klass has managed to master her latest look.
Because the former popstar appeared to be channelling a sexy secretary as she left studios on London's Southbank this morning.
The Norfolk-born beauty, 32, was wearing a pristine white summer mini dress, lashings of red lipstick, black-rimmed Fifties-style glasses and chunky blue and white satin bird print heels.

However, the twist is, one will undergo the likes of plastic surgery and dentistry before their wardrobe is sorted out, whereas the other will have less-invasive procedures in a bid to roll back the years.
It will be Myleene's second series as the show's presenter. She took over from Nicky Hambleton-Jones amid rather ironic cries of ageism - Myleene is seven years younger than her predecessor - last year.
One of the faces of Marks And Spencer, Myleene is becoming quite the style queen nowadays following some dodgy outfits in her Hear'Say days.
She's also launched her own baby clothing range, inspired by her own daughter Ava, aged three.
Called BabyK, the range is for all tots aged up to three.
Perhaps Myleene will design another range for children as Ava gets older - or maybe even a collection for saucy office workers...

Katy Perry Covers Rolling Stone Magazine In Sexy Undies

Stripping down to nada is nothing new for Katy Perry, who bares it all while resting on a cotton candy cloud in the video for her scorching summer sizzler “California Gurls,” and on the cover of her upcoming album, Teenage Dream. But still, an almost-naked hot shot of the pop songstress can get tongues wagging.

Fresh off busting up the Russian spy ring that included bombshell Anna Chapman, authorities have apprehended another attractive young woman with ties to Russia, this time for allegedly trying to smuggle night-vision rifle sights to Russia without a license.

Anna Fermanova, a beautician by trade, had been caught with $15,000 worth of accessories in her luggage when she checked in for a Moscow-bound flight at New York's JFK International Airport in March, but was allowed to continue her journey after the items -- a $7,000 Raptor 4X Night Vision Weapons Sight and two other night-vision devices worth $4,000 each -- were confiscated.

The Latvian-born Fermanova, who was arrested July 15 after she returned from Russia, is said to split her time between Dallas and Moscow, where her husband lives. She told authorities she'd purchased the scopes online for her husband's hunting activities and was unaware of any legal issues pertaining to their transport.

Fermanova's glamorous appearance and trim figure have drawn inevitable comparisons to Chapman, who was deported back to Moscow earlier this month. And like that case, Fermanova's supporters have been quick to shrug off the "femme fatale" title. "She's a nice Jewish girl who lives with her sweet Latvian parents," her attorney Scott Palmer told the Daily News.

Still, like Chapman, Fermanova's Facebook page is littered with scintillating photos that show the blond sipping wine with girlfriends and posing on a beach in a bikini.

"She is quite sexy, you could say, but she is not a spy," Palmer told the Dallas Morning News. He also declined to reveal the identity of Fermanova's husband, but said he has been involved in investment banking as well as imports and exports.

Sources told the Daily Star that Lewis, who recently split from long-term love Lou Al-Chamaa, asked to enter Whisky Mist by the back door to avoid attracting attention from the paparazzi.

However, the 25-year-old was informed that the venue staff would not give in to her diva demands and she had to enter through the front along with members of the public.

A source inside the venue told the newspaper: "Leona looked amazing in her tight black miniskirt, fishnets and massive quiff.

"She was really in the mood for letting her hair down and demanded she and her mates sat on the table next to The Wanted

"She was dancing and laughing and flirting with the boys, but she took a particular liking to Max George."
